The garden can be an area that makes you proud. If you are prepared to put in some effort, the exterior of your home can be just as alluring as the interior. It is another space that you can enjoy with friends and family. In the warmer months, you can entertain, and in the colder months, you can watch all the goings on from the comfort of your home. A beautiful garden is more than just an extra space. It is a space to get creative and to design something truly unique. If you have a little creative flair, then the world is your oyster. You can play with colour, scents, and even sounds too. It doesn’t even matter what size your garden is, you can still make it something special that gives you that sense of inspiration and enhances your sense of well-being. Here are a few ideas for making the most of your garden:

A Vertical Garden
This is a great idea for small gardens or if you have a lot of wall space you want to cover up. Vertical gardens are little patches of green that go up your wall and allow you to plant flowers and vegetables. There are professional vertical gardens that you can buy, or if you want to get a little creative, you can attach anything that can act as a receptacle for a little soil and plant some things. For example, a milk or a coke bottle could be good if you are interested in seeing the soil and then being able to watch the roots start crawling around the inside of the bottle. You can attach these to the wall using nails or screws; alternately, you can attach them to pallets. Vertical gardens are great options for cramped city spaces. They can surround you in life and give you some fresh, clean air as well as something pretty to look at.
Painting
If you have any peeling masonry, old fences, sheds, or brickwork that looks a little neglected, then you should try and liven it back up with some paint. Paint can literally bring up anything and make it look new again. It can cover a lot of mould and mildew stains too. If you live in the city and have a small walled garden space or a huge shed, you could consider painting on a mural. You could paint an image of a meadow if that takes your fancy and make it look as if it is a large garden expanse, even if it isn’t. If a mural is too much, why not use a few stencils and go for a more subtle approach? When you look at them through your window or sit out there, it will have the effect of making you feel happier.
Gravel
Gravel can be another great addition to your garden. It comes in many different sizes and colours, so you may need to do a little colour coordinating to ensure that it gives the right feel. But when you have it, you can use it to fill in borders. It is a great material to use to section off areas. It is quite popular, along with decking and patio slabs for a reception area with a table and chairs for guests. If you have a long garden, gravel can be used to create a path. Gravel also adds to the sound of the garden; people will find it harder to creep up on you, for instance! Make sure you give your gravel a good wash if it hasn’t already been, and use a decent weed membrane to avoid all those pesky weeds coming through.
Create Divides
This would probably work best if you have a fair-sized to large garden. A garden that is split up into different sections can really help you make the most of it. Instead of one large space, you have different zones for different activities. Some people want a private little area to sit and relax while away the sunny afternoons, but they may also want a play area for children and a sociable area with a fire pit, table and chairs. A great way to do all this is to create divides. You can do this by using trellises and creeping plants; pagodas work well too. Other options are raised borders; you can use bushes or rustic fencing too. There are many ways to create these divides, and although some may take a lot of work and waiting for plants to grow, the effect, in the end, will be well with the wait. Indeed you will have your own private space away from the world.
Add Features
There are many features these days for the garden. You can buy garden ornaments for one. Mirrors are a great choice, especially if you have a small garden and need to create the illusion of more space. There are choices of hundreds of different sculptures and other ornaments too. Water features are a popular choice, and again, there is a wide range of choices. Consider the sound when it comes to a water feature. If you want a meditation area, you may want a specific type of trickle to help you zone out and relax. There are sheds and greenhouses. You don’t always have to get a standard type of greenhouse, either. You can look for an aluminium greenhouse instead. Features can make your garden pop and really give it that individualistic feel you are after.
Plants
What good is a garden without some plants? If you have a small garden, you don’t want to go for extravagant borders; you can go for potted plants or hanging baskets. There are some stunning plant pots which are beautiful in their own right. The good thing about these is that you can easily move them wherever it takes your fancy. If you have a large garden, then flower beds and raised flower beds always look good. You can go for creeping plants over archways, and a large garden doesn’t look right without a tree or two.
