The Right Lighting for a New Reading Room
I’ve got the bookcase full of books and a comfy chair. What’s missing? The perfect reading light of course! So let’s focus on my new floor light from Lights.co.uk, to help complete my reading room. I’ve been busy redecorating, and got beautiful velvet reupholstered chairs, and a huge lovely bookcase.

What is a Reading Light and why is it Important?
Now to focus on my new reading floor light. Its a light designed to be used for reading or crafting, so great for when I crochet too. They help reduce stress on my eyes due to poor light. They have a specialised bulb that is designed to direct the light onto the page of the book or magazine being read, making it a great reading light. I picked a lamp where you can select what colour light the bulb emits. There are three different colour temperatures: daylight, warm and cool. I personally enjoy when reading in the evening selecting the warm light, my reading light casts a warm but bright glow in my reading room. It adds a relaxing and calming ambience whilst drifting away with a good book.
Adjustable Lights for all
With both my sister and I using the reading room, one of the the benefits of the Dent floor lamp from Lights.co.uk is that it has an adjustable arm. I have a disability, so its important I can reposition the light. Ensuring the reading light works perfectly no matter who is in the comfy reading seat. The switch on the light is not too high, easily reached when sitting comfortably.

Benefits of my reading light
My optician asked that I ensure I have adequate lighting, particularly when I read in the evening. As I grow older I find I’m struggling to focus on the words on a page in a poorer light. A reading light in my reading room can solve this problem.
You can even get lights with attached magnifying lens, great as an aid for people with low vision or those who enjoy detailed crafting. There are so many lights available at Lights.co.uk, reading lights can be found in many shapes, sizes and styles.
Types of Lighting for a Reading Room
A reading light is an important part of my reading room set up. Helping me read better and more comfortably. I’ve have other lights weaved through the book shelves, tiny fairy lights, lit up they look beautiful. I have them set on a timer to come on and off, they add much needed cosy ambience during winter nights. A ceiling light with a pretty patterned lampshade, casts warm tones across the room from the pink and red pattern print of the fabric. There are even a few scented candles, helping with ambience but they certainly don’t make for a good reading light.

Finding the right lamp
There are a few factors that you should consider before picking the right reading light for your needs. These include the type of light, the lighting level, the brightness, and the colour temperature. Also not forgetting how to control your light, maybe you want a dimmer or a remote control maybe even a smart light linked to your phone.

At the time of this review the Dent floor light cost £118.90, I experienced quick delivery and the floor light was well packaged and very easy to assemble.

Before I was lucky enough to have an entire room for reading in, I had a reading nook. A small corner in a room to relax and read. Find out more in my Reading Nook article.
