There are some lovely shops in Much Wenlock as well as the Wenlock Priory an English Heritage property to visit. Today however was not a day for shopping. My sister, aunt and I were calling in for a refreshment pit stop, between visits to Buildwas Abbey and Shipton Hall. Once in the village we spotted a new tea room called Tea on the Square.

Tea on the Square - Much Wenlock, Shropshire |
What a delight! Such nice tea, cake and friendly staff. No rickety or modern tables and chairs here. But some wonderful solid wood furniture, which really suited the style of the tea room. There are no tea, scone or cake photos, I was far too busy enjoying them.
It is the attention to detail with the interiors that can make one tea room stand our from another, as well as the cakes of course! I loved the vintage tea tins on the shelves above the windows, along with teacups hanging on hooks underneath. It all fit together rather nicely. I also spotted what looked like the original entrance bell fitted to the door. There is a stunning hand painted wall mural of the buildings of Much Wenlock, with the roof tops highlighted with fairy lights. Absolutely fabulous!

Be aware at present the tea room is not open on a Sunday.

Such a delightful looking tea room! I love when places like that keep their quirks and originality. Everything lately tries to look too modern and minimalist and it takes the spirit out of it (if you know what I mean!) x
