I have quite a collection of recipe books, mostly for cakes, bakes or biscuits. I spent some time during the Christmas with a cup of coffee flicking through some of them. It was then I realised there were so many great recipes that I have never actually baked. So I grabbed myself a notepad and pen and made a list of those recipes I want to bake over the year. So the next time I am required to bake a birthday cake or a pudding, I will refer to this list and not to the trusted favourites of a Victoria sponge, fruit or that classic chocolate cake.
Most of the recipes have come from the following books, although I still have a shelf full of other books I have yet to tackle.
- Gifts from the Kitchen
- Cake Magic
- Cupcakes and Baking
- Good Food: 101 Cakes & Bakes: Tried and tested Recipes
Keep your eyes peeled the next family birthday is imminent and the first recipe to be attempted is a Rocky Road Cheesecake.
Just catching up with blog land after a long break. Wish I lived nearer so I could have your leftovers!! Happy New Year xXx
ReplyDeleteWhat I nice idea to make a list of things you want to do over the year. I tend to forget what fantastic recipe books I have. Maybe I do this as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing this to my attention :)

Rocky Road Cheesecake sounds wonderful, can't wait for that one!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I was just looking at my recipe book shelf the other day and wondering if i should put some of the books out as i don't really use them as much as i could. This sounds like a much better alternative!
