Baker Days Letterbox Cake - Review

Baker Days - are a company situation on the edge of Sherwood Forest, who's aim it is to make beautiful cakes that taste just as you have made them yourself and deliver them anywhere in the UK by the next day.

I confess to being a little sceptical  at the thought of having a cake delivered through the post, but I found the whole process from start to finish a pleasant surprise.

Letterbox Cake Review

Select your cake design - there is a full range of designs based on categories ie birthday, thank you, congratulations there is even a special One Direction cake category!  You can combine many of these designs to include a photograph too. I found this to be the trickiest  part, trying to decided which one of the many lovely designs to choose. If you can not decide Baker Days say they will design one especially  for you at no extra charge.  I chose the Teapot and Cup design but I also wanted to into the logo for Scoliosis Awareness Day and asked if there was any chance they could find room on the design. Success they did which meant the cake was on display for my Charity Cake Sale for Scoliosis UK.

Select your size cake and recipe - Letterbox for me, you can also choose from small, medium or large party cakes. Choose from sponge, fruit, chocolate chip sponge, or gluten and wheat free. Lucky me got carrot cake.

Personalise your cake - decide on the message you want printed on your cake and upload a photograph.

Delivered securely and safely
Letterbox cake arrives This is the real clever bit, the Letterbox cake is delivered the next day whilst you are a work, or out doing errands. It is safely packaged into a special tin container and arrived in perfect condition.

Cake verdict - the cake received plenty of admiring comments at the charity cake sale, everyone was amazed at the design and that such designs were possible to produce on a cake. Like me they we surprised that it was delivered through the post.

I shared the cake with some work colleagues, as soon as you cut a slice you could smell it was carrot cake, all those lovely mixed spices. The cake was moist and light, with a thin layer of butter cream at the bottom of the cake. I really could not fault it, and I managed to get five slices out of the cake too. Yes I was genuinely surprised by the quality of the cake - thumbs up from me Baker Days.
Letterbox Carrot Cake
The Letterbox Cake from Baker Days retails at £14.99 including postage and packaging. Initially I thought this a little pricey but it is much cheaper than sending a bouquet of flowers to a friend to celebrate a birthday or other occasion. I know my aunt in the south of England would be delighted to received such a unique and personalised gift she could enjoy with a cup of tea.

Thank you to Baker Days for sending me a Letterbox Cake free of charge for the purposes of this review, all opinions expressed are my own.
