It's time to bake a birthday cake, wow they do come around quick. This one has my uncle's name on it, well so to speak, and his cake of choice - Lemon Drizzle Cake. I used the recipe for Lemon Syrup Loaf Cake from Nigella Lawson, How to be a Domestic Goddess Book.
I had a slight problem during the bake, I opened the oven door with ten minutes remaining on the timer as I thought the cake looked rather brown. In the process of checking the cake I caught my hand on the shelf in the oven, then ended up nearly knocking the tin off the shelf. All of which resulted in the oven door being opened for too long. As soon as I shut the door I could see the cake sinking right in front of my eyes. Still never mind these things happen, and the cake still tasted wonderful.
